Littlerock is the administrative capital and the most populous city of Arkansas. The city was named after a small rock formation on the banks of the Arkansas River on which it is situated. Littlerock is located towards the south side of the Arkansas River. Rock Creek and Fourche Creek flow through the city into the river. Lake Maumelle and Pinnacle Mountain are towards the northwest part of the city. The city's water supply is drawn from Lake Maumelle. Across the river a separate city of North Littlerock is located. The city of Littlerock enjoys humid subtropical climate with cool winters and hot summers. The highest recorded summer temperature in Littlerock was 11 degrees Fahrenheit in August 2000.
